Abdolnaser Hemmati confirms the Central Bank’s continued commitment to financing essential imports, medicine, and industrial raw materials, while pledging full banking support for the reconstruction of damaged energy facilities in Assaluyeh.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has announced that nearly $30 billion in foreign currency has been supplied for the import of essential goods, medicine, and raw materials required by production units over the past seven months and 15 days, confirming that this process will continue to meet the country’s needs.
Speaking to reporters in Bushehr province on Saturday evening, Abdolnaser Hemmati stated that securing foreign currency for essential goods, pharmaceuticals, and industrial inputs remains a top priority for the Central Bank, and that all necessary measures are being taken in this regard.
Referring to his inspection of damaged petrochemical and refinery facilities in Assaluyeh, Hemmati said that expert teams and specialized personnel are working diligently to repair and reconstruct the affected complexes.
He expressed hope that major repairs would be completed in the shortest possible time, allowing gas production and petrochemical supply to return to normal conditions.
The CBI Governor confirmed that the Central Bank is prepared to provide financial support to damaged units through its own capacity and the national banking network, ensuring that the reconstruction process and the return of these facilities to the production cycle proceed at an accelerated pace.
Hemmati’s remarks come against the backdrop of a sustained US campaign of economic terrorism aimed at collapsing Iran’s economy.
Washington has imposed sweeping sanctions on Iran’s banking, energy, shipping, and trade sectors since its illegal withdrawal from the nuclear deal in 2018, with the campaign intensifying following the failure of the US-Israeli war of aggression earlier this year.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had repeatedly made exaggerated claims regarding Iran’s economic fragility, including a prediction that Iran’s economy could collapse within two weeks and assertions that Iranian oil had been completely removed from global markets. These forecasts have been proven false.
“The enemy’s goal was to bring about economic collapse and disrupt the country’s economic order,” Hemmati stated. “But despite the damage and pressures inflicted on the people, they failed to achieve this objective. Just as our country’s warriors stood firm on the military front and the enemy did not reach its goals, on the economic front as well, stability, resistance, and the government’s programs prevented them from realizing their aims.”
The CBI Governor concluded by expressing hope that the results of this economic resistance and the government’s corrective measures would become increasingly visible in the period ahead.
