Kothagudem: An armed reserve constable, who killed his wife here, packed her body in a sack, travelled with it on a motorbike to his native place and later to Bhadrachalam without being detected.

The constable’s father, a farmer, helped him in hiding the body and then in disposing of it. The duo reportedly travelled a distance of around 60 km on the motorbike on National Highway 30 before reaching Bhadrachalam where they dumped the body in river Godavari.

Speaking to the media at three-town police station here on Saturday Superintendent of Police, B Rohith Raju informed that a missing person case was registered at the three town police station based on the complaint by the deceased woman, G Bhavani’s sister, Gundarapu Swarupa on November 6.

On the same day, Bhavani’s husband, Boda Narender (ARPC-623) of Goliya thanda of Tekulapalli mandal in the district, approached the police and confessed to murdering his wife. He stated that on November 3 night he strangled his wife, aged around 29 years, to death with hands and a scarf at their rented home at Gollagudem in the town.

He then took the body to Goliya thanda and hid it in an agricultural field with the help of his father, Boda Harilal. Later, on November 4 at around 11 pm, they both took the body on the motorbike to Bhadrachalam Godavari Bridge and threw it into the river to destroy evidence.

Police searched in the river and recovered Bhavani’s body during night hours on Friday and shifted it to Bhadrachalam Area Hospital. Post-mortem was conducted on Saturday, the SP said, adding that Narender would be produced in court and remanded. The constable’s father was yet to be arrested.

It was said that Narender and Bhavani came in contact with each other on Facebook three years ago, were in a live-in relationship for some time and got married at Bhadradri Temple in April 2025. Constable’s family members were against marrying Bhavani and they had frequent clashes.
