Hyderabad: The rift between Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and Peddapalli Congress MP G Vamshi Krishna shows no signs of easing, with the Minister learnt to have taken up the issue with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud.

“On Thursday, the Industries Minister spoke to the TPCC president over the phone. What transpired between the two is not known yet, but the Minister is definitely unhappy over the issue,” a senior leader from Gandhi Bhavan said.

Sridhar Babu has not responded to the sarcastic remarks made against him by Vamshi Krishna in a letter dated November 2. The Peddapalli MP took a dig at the Minister over his absence from a Congress programme held at Ramleela Grounds in New Delhi on Sunday.

In the letter, Vamshi Krishna asked the Minister not to take action against Peddapalli MLA Vijayaramana Rao and Ramagundam MLA Makhan Singh Thakur. The sarcastic remarks in the letter have since circulated on social media.

The confrontation between the Minister and the MP follows a programme organised by the Kaka Venkat Swamy Charitable Trust at a government school in Koyyur, under the Manthani constituency. Congress leaders distributed school bags to poor students as part of the programme.

Vamshi Krishna strongly objected to the Industries Minister’s decision to suspend a tribal woman leader and several other leaders who attended the programme. He said the action was taken without issuing any notice to them.

Despite the TPCC Disciplinary Committee strictly instructing party leaders, particularly MLAs and MPs, not to discuss internal party affairs in public, such instructions appear to have had little impact.

Congress MLAs and MPs continue to speak openly about their differences with Ministers on various issues, disregarding the party’s directives.
