KTR questions Modi, Shah over inaction on alleged RR tax collections

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao questioned the BJP leadership for not acting against the alleged RR tax collections in Telangana, despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah repeatedly accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi of looting crores of rupees.

In a post on X, Rama Rao said builders and developers in Hyderabad would confirm that collections of Rs 200 per square foot in the name of RR tax were a reality. He said the alleged collections were well known in the real estate sector.

“Ask any builder/developer in Hyderabad, they will confirm that RR tax of Rs 200 per SFT is a reality,” he said.

The BRS working president pointed out that Modi and Shah had frequently visited Hyderabad and levelled allegations of large-scale extortion against Revanth Reddy and Rahul Gandhi. However, he questioned why the BJP leaders had not initiated any action if they believed the allegations were true.

“Bada Bhai Modi & HM Amit shah come periodically to Hyderabad, accuse Revanth/Rahul of looting Crores of rupees via RR tax. But mark my words, there will be no action on RR. Bada Bhai will never act against his ABVP Chota Bhai,” he remarked.

Rama Rao accused the BJP leadership of making allegations during visits to Hyderabad but taking no concrete steps to address the issue. He said the party’s leaders indulged in “Only Big Talk. No Action”. He alleged that an understanding between the BJP and the Congress was behind the Centre’s inaction, questioning whether this explained why Modi and Shah refrained from acting on the very allegations they repeatedly made against the Congress government in Telangana.
