Hyderabad: The BRS women’s wing staged a silent protest in LB Nagar on Tuesday against the Congress government over its alleged failure to check the rising prices of essential commodities, which it said were placing an increasing financial burden on ordinary households.

The protest march was taken out from NTR Nagar Market to LB Nagar crossroads, with LB Nagar MLA D Sudheer Reddy participating.

BRS women leaders displayed a comparative chart of the prices of essential commodities in 2023, during the previous BRS regime, and in 2026 under the Congress government. They pointed to increases in the prices of rice, cooking oil, LPG cylinders, milk, sugar, red gram, eggs, onions and tomatoes.

The BRS women leaders said the price rise was severely affecting the monthly budgets of middle-class and lower-income families, with women bearing the mental stress of managing household expenses. They demanded the full implementation of the six guarantees promised by the Congress during the Assembly elections and immediate measures to control the prices of essential commodities.

The protest was attended by senior BRS women’s wing leaders, representatives and party workers.
