Nalgonda: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a protest in front of the Haliya police station on Monday, alleging irregularities and corruption in the allocation of Indiramma houses to the poor.
Led by former BRS MLA Nomula Bhagath, party leaders staged a ‘rasta roko’ on the Kodad-Jadcherla National Highway. The protest brought traffic on the highway to a standstill.
The BRS leaders alleged that the Haliya Municipal Commissioner was indulging in corruption and irregularities in the allocation of Indiramma houses. They alleged that houses were being allotted to individuals who already owned homes, while genuine beneficiaries were being deprived of houses.
They also alleged that the Municipal Chairperson and the Commissioner had not allocated any funds to the 4th ward, which is represented by the BRS, for the past year.
