Adilabad: Former minister Jogu Ramanna said that members of the ruling Congress and the BJP were showing interest in joining the BRS after becoming dissatisfied with the policies of the two parties.

Ramanna welcomed former vice-MPP Benwar Gangareddy from the Congress and Mutyala and Suresh Kishtanna from the BJP into the BRS by presenting them with party scarves at a programme held here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramanna said people were facing various challenges due to the inefficient governance of the Congress. He said farmers were reeling under a crisis as the government had failed to take steps to provide irrigation for crops and supply Rythu Bharosa assistance, seeds and fertilisers.

The former minister alleged that Adilabad district was not witnessing the expected level of developmental activity. He objected to the proposed railway link between Mukutban and Gadchandur in Maharashtra, alleging that it would cause injustice to Adilabad district. He wanted Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh and MLA Payal Shankar to exert pressure to have the route altered to pass through Bhela and Jainath.

Earlier, the newly joined leaders promised to extend support to the BRS in organising the Raithu Garjana meeting in Adilabad on November 1.

BRS leaders Vijjagiri, Sajoddin, Narayana, Gaush, Gangaiah, Praveen, Surender and others were present.
