Hyderabad: A total of 12,000 tickets for the India-West Indies T20 International to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal on October 14 had been sold by Friday, according to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Secretary M Jeevan Reddy.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Reddy said ticket sales had begun on the Ticketgenie app on Wednesday. Ticket prices range from Rs 750 to Rs 20,000.

“A total of 34,000 tickets will be on sale. Each person can buy a maximum of four tickets. We are ensuring that at least 12,000 tickets will be available for sale in the 24 hours preceding the scheduled commencement of the match,” he said.

Reddy said the HCA had been making efforts to ensure spectator-friendly conditions for the international match. “The pitch has been dug up, and a new one is being put in place for the match,” he said.

Addressing the media in the presence of HCA spokesperson and former secretary T Seshnarayan and CEO Imtiaz Khan, Reddy said 2,500 tickets would be given free of cost to Army personnel. Another 2,500 tickets would be allocated to school students from schools to be selected by the HCA. The respective school managements would be responsible for arranging transport and ensuring the students’ safe return after the match.

Reddy also said this would be the first instance of a state cricket association hosting an international match under the Green Cricket initiative, in association with the United Nations Environment Programme.

The HCA secretary appealed to fans to avoid travelling to the stadium in four-wheelers on match day to minimise parking and traffic congestion. He also advised spectators to reach the venue at least two hours before the match to avoid inconvenience.
