Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy on Thursday directed officials to complete advance preparations for Bathukamma celebrations, ensuring public safety and convenience.
At a coordination meeting with key civic body wings here, Reddy reviewed sanitation, road maintenance, street lighting, drinking water supply, public amenities, traffic management, waste collection and cleanliness in parks and surrounding areas.
Officials were asked to take proactive measures to prevent inconvenience as large crowds are expected. Sanitation operations should continue before, during and after celebrations at event venues, with special staff deployed for immediate waste collection and removal, according to a press release. Additional sanitation measures should be introduced where required.
Krishna Reddy directed officials to provide essential infrastructure, adequate lighting, drinking water and sanitation facilities for women, families and devotees. Staff should remain at venues and continuously monitor the situation.
Officials were also instructed to regulate traffic, ensure smooth vehicular movement and make necessary public safety arrangements in areas likely to witness increased movement during the festivities. All departments were asked to coordinate for the smooth conduct of events.
