Hyderabad: The TG SAFE Food Wing and Enforcement officials on Thursday inspected 12 pheni manufacturing units in Hyderabad under the CURE jurisdiction following complaints of food safety violations.

During the inspections, officials found several units operating in unhygienic conditions. Workers were allegedly involved in preparing pheni without wearing head caps and gloves, while some were found wearing dirty clothes and handling food despite sweating heavily.

Officials also found raw materials and prepared pheni being kept directly on the floor. Some units were reportedly manufacturing food products without valid FSSAI licences, while mandatory licences and certificates were not prominently displayed.
