Hyderabad: The BRS will organise district decennial celebrations marking 10 years of formation of new districts across Telangana on October 10 and 11. BRS working president KT Rama Rao called upon party leaders and cadres to hold the celebrations and participate in large scale.

Rama Rao said administrative decentralisation was a key objective of the Telangana movement and the then K Chandrashekhar Rao government initiated reforms to bring governance closer to people. The State was reorganised from 10 districts into 33 to ensure easy access to administration, he said.

He said the reorganisation fulfilled long-pending aspirations and reduced the need for people to travel 100-150 km to reach district headquarters. The then BRS government had also focused on developing infrastructure, offices, healthcare and educational facilities at the district level, he added.

The BRS working president directed the party to organise programmes at every district headquarters and honour Join Action Committees (JACs) and activists who fought for separate districts. He asked them to involved bar associations, journalists, employees, pensioners, women’s and youth organisations, poets, artists and social activists.

Party leaders were asked to showcase each district’s development over the past decade, highlight the changes through an “Then and Now” comparison and present their respective success stories through local and social media.

Rama Rao said district reorganisation was not merely an administrative exercise but aimed at taking development, welfare and infrastructure closer to people. “Whether we are in power or not, the State and districts are permanent,” he said, urging cadres to make the celebrations people-oriented.
