Mancherial: BRS cadres staged a rasta-roko on a road over unscheduled power outages in Chennur Assembly constituency, represented by Labour Minister Dr G Vivek, at Bheemaram on Thursday.
The cadres blocked traffic on the Nizamabad-Jagdalpur highway in protest against the erratic power supply. They said farmers were unable to get quality power in Vivek’s constituency. They regretted that farmers were facing inconvenience and failing to irrigate crops that were on the verge of withering due to unscheduled power outages.
Displaying placards against the interruptions in power, the cadres raised slogans against the State government for failing to address the issue. They were detained by local police for blocking traffic and causing inconvenience to motorists. They said farmers would teach a lesson to the Congress by voting against its candidates in the coming elections.
