A TGSP constable was booked by Karimnagar Rural police for allegedly sexually assaulting a married woman, recording intimate videos without her consent, and extorting Rs 1.30 lakh by threatening to circulate the footage on social media. Police have launched an investigation and are verifying the allegations.

Karimnagar: A constable working with Telangana Special Police (TGSP) 8th Battalion, Kondapur was booked on charges of sexually assaulting a married woman and extorting Rs 1.30 lakh by threatening to circulate their intimate videos on social media platforms, here on Monday.
Karimnagar Rural police said that a case was registered against Itikala Uday, a constable attached to the TGSP, under the Sections 64 (2), 75 (2) of BNS and the Sections 66 E and 67-A of the Information Technology Act, based on a complaint lodged by the victim, hailing from Koyyur in Prof Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, while currently residing in Karimnagar. The woman, who resides in Karimnagar, is a classmate of the constable.
Uday allegedly sexually assaulted the woman by luring her to an apartment in Karimnagar and to a hotel in Hyderabad over a period of five months recently. He was alleged to have secretly recorded photographs and videos of the acts using a mobile phone. He then extorted Rs 1.30 lakh from her by threatening to post the photographs and videos on Facebook and WhatsApp.
The woman approached the police when the constable continued to harass and stalk her. She alleged that she was sent back to her parents by her husband after the photographs and videos were sent to him. She claimed that suffered an abortion when she was two-month pregant due to sexual assault and mental trauma.
Police further said that investigations had been taken up and allegations of the woman. The allegations of the woman were being verified and the case was being probed from various angles including as to why the woman remained silent so far. The constable would be questioned soon.
