A woman died after delivering a stillborn baby at a private hospital in Mancherial, with her family alleging medical negligence. Doctors, however, said she developed epilepsy during delivery and had been counselled about the risks associated with her condition.

Mancherial: A woman died after delivering stillborn due to alleged negligence of doctors at a private hospital here early on Sunday morning. Her family members staged a sit-in in front of the hospital with the body demanding justice.
A pregnant woman from Gudipet village breathed her last after giving birth to the stilborn by 2 am. Her parents and several family members accused the doctors of showing negligence in handling the delivery, leading to her death. They wanted officials to take action against the doctors.
On receiving information about the protest, police rushed to the spot and held consultations with the agitators. They urged the family members of the woman to shift the body to the government general hospital for post-mortem. They assured the protesters of justice by inquiring into the incident.
Doctors of the hospital clarified that the woman developed epilepsy during the delivery due to which she died. They claimed that they counselled her about risk involved in carrying out delivery due to the epilepsy at the time of admitting her. They said that she was carrying an eight month pregnancy.
