Diamond and gold jewellery worth an estimated Rs 6 crore was allegedly stolen from a Carat Lane jewellery showroom in Medipally after unidentified burglars broke open the shutter on Sunday night. Police are examining CCTV footage and investigating a possible recce.

Hyderabad: Diamond and gold jewellery worth an estimated Rs 6 crore was allegedly stolen from a jewellery showroom in Medipally after unidentified burglars broke open the shop’s shutter and fled with the valuables on Sunday night.

The theft occurred at the Carat Lane TATA Product Jewellery outlet, where the suspects allegedly forced their way into the premises after breaking the shutter.


According to the police, the burglars reportedly made away with a large quantity of diamond jewellery and gold ornaments before escaping.

The incident came to light after the showroom staff noticed the damaged shutter and alerted the police on Monday morning.

On receiving information, a team from the Medipally police station reached the spot and collected samples.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the showroom and surrounding areas to identify the suspects and track their escape route.

Investigators are also checking whether the burglars had conducted a recce of the outlet before carrying out the theft.

The exact quantity and value of the stolen jewellery will be confirmed after the showroom management completes an inventory.

Police have registered a case and launched a search for the suspects.
