Medak: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will launch a plantation drive to plant 35,000 cashew saplings along the National Highway-765D between Ramayampet and Siddipet in Medak district on Tuesday. The initiative has been described as the first of its kind in the country.
The programme aims to make productive use of available land along the national highway while increasing green cover and promoting environmental sustainability.
The Governor will formally launch the plantation programme at 3.30 pm near the Swami Vivekananda statue, close to Amogh Hotel in Ramayampet, and participate in the programme until 4.30 pm.
As part of his visit to Medak district, Shukla will arrive at the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) at 2.30 pm and flag off the Nasha Mukt Bharat rally, aimed at creating awareness, particularly among young people, about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
He will subsequently interact with students at the IDOC and visit Mahila Shakti stalls, where he will interact with members of self-help groups. He will also meet newly elected representatives of the Indian Red Cross Society.
Shukla will leave the IDOC for Ramayampet at 3 pm and reach the plantation programme venue at 3.30 pm.
Medak MP Raghunandan Rao, Collector Prathima Singh, MLA M Rohith Rao and others will participate in the programme.
