Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare a comprehensive Child Online Safety Framework to safeguard children from cybercrimes and ensure they get justice.

The framework would be prepared in consultation with the High Court and the Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TGSLSA), he said.

Addressing the inaugural session of the National Legal Services Authority’s South Zone Regional Conference here on Saturday, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to extending full support to the Legal Services Authorities (LSAs) to take their good work to every district and village.

The conference was organised with the theme ‘Justice for Children in Cyberspace’.

He called for involving parents in preparing the Child Online Safety Framework. “Every child and parent should know two numbers: 1930 for cybercrime and 1098 for child help.”

He suggested that parents speak to their children and be curious about what they are doing on the internet. He said the challenge was to work towards stopping cybercrimes against children, keeping them safe and ensuring they get justice.

The Chief Minister said Bharosa centres provide police support, medical help, legal aid and counselling to women and children under one roof. Hyderabad has India’s first Child Friendly Court. The Women Safety Wing of the police department runs SHE-Bharosa Cyber Labs to protect children, he said.

“Through CybHER app, we are preparing students and teachers to stay safe online. Students are becoming cyber ambassadors for classmates,” Revanth Reddy said.

The TGSLSA has signed an MoU with the School Education department. Teachers are educating children about their legal rights. Over 3,000 Child Protection Officers have been trained so far, he explained.

Union Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal, Telangana High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Supreme Court Judges Alok Aradhe, R Mahadevan, P S Narasimha and Vikram Nath, and Telangana High Court Judge Sam Koshy attended the conference.
