Hyderabad: Upset over being unable to secure employment after returning from the UK, a 35-year-old homemaker died by suicide at her residence in Kapra under Kushaiguda.
The woman, Swati Mahajan, had been married to Gopalakrishna Tulasidas Waghale for around 10 years. The couple have a six-year-old son, Swaroop.
The couple had earlier moved to the UK, where both were employed. They returned to Hyderabad around two years ago and had been living in Kapra since then.
Police said Gopalakrishna was unable to find a job after their return, while Swati stayed at home and was also trying to find employment.
On September 30, a neighbour went to the couple’s house after bringing Swaroop home from school. When Swati did not respond despite repeated knocks, the neighbour alerted Gopalakrishna.
He rushed home, broke open the door and found Swati hanging from the ceiling fan. The Kushaiguda police have launched an investigation.
