Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A washerman was brutally murdered by unidentified persons at Gambhiraopet village on Wednesday night.

Police said Rachakonda Sattaiah (50) was killed on the spot after the assailants slit his throat at around 10 pm. They suspected that some members of his community might have been involved following disputes over fixing charges for washing clothes.

It is learnt that members of the community had demanded a hefty charge for washing clothes of villagers during a meeting recently. However, Sattaiah came forward to do the job for a nominal price, drawing the ire of the members. It was suspected that some members nursed a grudge against him.

Meanwhile, police said a murder case was booked against a person from the village on Thursday, but withheld the accused person’s identity for undisclosed reasons.
