The University of Hyderabad has moved to the 801–1000 band in the THE World University Rankings 2027, improving from 1001–1200 last year. The latest rankings cover 2,297 institutions across 118 countries and territories, including 143 Indian institutions.

Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been ranked 801–1000th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, published Wednesday. The University moved up from the 1001–1200 band it held in the 2026 edition.
The result places UoH among the top 1,000 universities in the world. The 2027 edition ranks 2,297 institutions across 118 countries and territories, up from 2,191 institutions in 115 countries and territories last year. India is the second most-represented country for the second year running, with 143 ranked institutions.
THE assesses research-intensive universities on 17 performance indicators, grouped into five pillars: Research Quality (30 per cent), Teaching (29.5 per cent), Research Environment (29 per cent), International Outlook (7.5 per cent) and Industry (4 per cent). The indicators draw on data submitted and signed off by each institution, Elsevier bibliometric data, and THE’s annual Academic Reputation Survey.
According to data collected for the 2027 rankings, UoH has 5,575 students, with 13.2 students per member of staff and a gender ratio of 46 women to 54 men.
The university also features in THE’s 2026 subject rankings and is placed in the 601–800 band for Life Sciences and for Medical and Health, and in the 801–1000 band for Business and Economics, Computer Science, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences.
