Mancherial: A man and two others were arrested on charges of murdering his brother under the guise of a treasure hunt at Adavi Somanpalli village in Chennur mandal on Monday. Police seized an axe, two bikes, Rs 60,000 in cash and two mobile phones from the accused.
Briefing the media in Chennur, Jaipur ACP Ch Venkateshwarlu said Kudukala Rajesh of Neelwai, his cousin Godari Sammaiah of Dakapali and Balla Kishta Swamy, a resident of Neelwai, were taken into custody for their alleged roles in the killing of Rajesh’s brother Srinivas (40) on September 20.
During interrogation, Rajesh reportedly confessed to murdering Srinivas following a land dispute, with the assistance of Sammaiah and Kishta Swamy. He allegedly admitted to hacking Srinivas to death before setting the body on fire to destroy evidence after taking him to a forest in Adavi Somanpalli. He paid Rs 1.95 lakh to Sammaiah and Kishta Swamy in instalments for executing the conspiracy, police said.
Rajesh initially offered liquor to Srinivas in Chennur and then managed to take him to the forest. Sammaiah bought petrol in Chennur, while Kishta Swamy followed the trio from a junction. Sammaiah attacked Srinivas on the neck. He then allegedly hacked Srinivas to death when Rajesh and Swamy held his legs and hands after he tried to escape, police said.
The ACP commended Chennur Rural Inspector R Krishna, Neelwai SI Nagaraju, Kotapalli SI Rajashekhar and Bheemaram SI Rajender for cracking the mystery behind the murder, which was initially reported as a missing-person case.
