Karimnagar: A Dalit farmer died of cardiac arrest after he was allegedly distressed over his land being included in 22-A prohibited list at Kothapalli village in Thimmapur mandal on Monday.
Family members claimed Asodu Rajaiah from the village died as he was depressed over the inclusion of his land in the prohibited list. His brother Ravinder claimed that the land was not excluded from the list despite a High Court order, resulting in the death of the farmer. He alleged that they were subjected to harassment by officials for being Dalits.
He announced that he would launch a hunger strike if the problem was not resolved. He recalled that Rajaiah had represented to officials 18 times, but the issue was not addressed. He said that they were compelled to approach the High Court after their land was added to the list.
