Siddipet: The bodies of two persons who drowned in Pedda Cheruvu at Rudraram in Akberpet-Bhumpally mandal were retrieved after hours of efforts on Sunday morning.
Para Ramesh, 38, and Kalala Naveen, 26, drowned while immersing an idol in the water body on Saturday evening. The duo, who had danced along with other devotees during the procession, ventured into deeper waters and disappeared before other devotees could attempt to rescue them.
Ramesh is survived by his wife and two sons, while Naveen was unmarried. A pall of gloom descended on the village as two persons from the same village died on the same day.
The bodies were shifted to the local government hospital for postmortem. Police registered a case.
