BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao paid tribute to Chakali Ailamma on her birth anniversary, recalling her role in the Telangana Armed Peasant Struggle. He said her spirit of democratic struggle and self-respect should inspire today’s youth and governance.

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K Chandrashekhar Rao said true tributes to Chakali Ailamma could be paid only by making the welfare and upliftment of Telangana’s farmers and all communities the ultimate goal of governance.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chityala Ailamma, popularly known as Chakali Ailamma, the BRS president recalled her role in the Telangana Armed Peasant Struggle and paid tributes to her. He described her as a symbol of Bahujan self-respect.
K Chandrashekhar Rao hailed Ailamma as a courageous woman who raised her voice against the feudal rule of her time and fought for the rights of Telangana’s farmers. He said she became a symbol of self-respect for oppressed communities.
He said Ailamma’s fighting spirit remained an inspiration for the present generation. She demonstrated courage by confronting landlords and showed a democratic spirit by fighting and winning legal battles within the framework of the laws then in force, he said.
The BRS president said Ailamma’s spirit of democratic struggle and the Telangana consciousness she embodied deserved to be emulated by today’s youth, particularly amid chaotic political and administrative conditions that were against public aspirations.
“The inspiration provided by Ailamma was embedded in the peaceful struggle for the realisation of Telangana State,” K Chandrashekhar Rao said.
He said the then BRS government had established the tradition of officially celebrating her birth anniversary to convey the greatness of Chakali Ailamma to future generations.
In line with Ailamma’s ideals, several innovative schemes were implemented during the 10-year journey of progress for the welfare of women and children, the farming community and the upliftment of all communities, he said.
These measures strengthened Telangana’s rural economy, revived traditional occupations and upheld the economic and social self-respect of all communities. The results achieved through these efforts had become a model for the entire nation, he said.
