Hyderabad: The Ganesh idol immersion procession passed off peacefully amid extensive security arrangements and coordination involving various government departments, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons here, Sajjanar said the police had made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival and immersion. Planning for the arrangements had been underway for the past three months in coordination with the GHMC, HYDRAA, TGSPDCL and other departments.
He said around 30 lakh devotees visited the Khairatabad Ganesh idol, while nearly 15 lakh devotees visited the Balapur Ganesh idol during the Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations that began on September 14.
According to Sajjanar, the inclusion of Balapur in the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate helped facilitate the early commencement of the immersion procession from the pandal. The police ensured seamless darshan for devotees at both locations despite the turnout increasing every day during the festival.
Nearly 20,000 personnel from the Hyderabad Commissionerate, besides around 8,000 personnel drawn from other districts and various police wings, were deployed for the festival.
