Hyderabad: The iconic Khairatabad Bada Ganesh began its journey, leaving the pandal at 9.30 am after a three-hour delay caused by an early morning crane malfunction. After a 3-km procession, the idol will reach Hussain Sagar.
The grand Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Shobha Yatra was delayed by nearly three hours from its scheduled 6 am start due to a technical glitch in the massive ‘Bahubali’ hydraulic crane.
A sudden pipe rupture in the heavy-duty crane temporarily halted operations, requiring urgent welding and repair work before the 69-foot idol could be safely transferred onto the specialised tusker transport vehicle.
The 69-foot idol was successfully placed onto the specialised ‘tusker’ transport vehicle at around 8.30 am.
According to a member of the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee, the delay means the idol is now expected to reach Hussain Sagar by 2 pm, with the immersion ceremony slated for completion by 3 pm.
