The iconic Khairatabad Bada Ganesh idol was immersed in Hussain Sagar on Friday afternoon amid tight police security and thousands of devotees. The procession was delayed by three hours due to a technical snag in a hydraulic crane before the immersion.

Hyderabad: Amidst a massive, multi-layered police bandobast, the iconic Khairatabad Ganesh idol was immersed at Hussain Sagar Lake on Friday around 2.45 pm.
Devotees in large numbers accompanied the idol in the procession, which reached Hussain Sagar around 12 noon after a three-hour delay caused by a technical snag in a hydraulic crane.
For 3 km along the procession stretch, the atmosphere was thick with high-octane devotion and chants of ‘Ganapathi Bappa Morya’ from thousands of devotees.
The atmosphere reached its spiritual peak as priests concluded the solemn Kalasa Pooja right at the idol’s feet, signalling the conclusion of the 12-day Ganesh festival.
Expert rescue swimmers kept watch as the immersion of Khairatabad Ganesh was carried out in the presence of thousands of devotees.
Seamless coordination between the Hyderabad Police, GHMC, and HMDA ensured the safe immersion of the mega-idol. A dedicated safety cordon escorted the procession, maintaining crowd control until the immersion ritual.
