Hyderabad and surrounding districts continue to experience a dry spell despite recent heavy rainfall warnings from the IMD. TSDPS data shows rainfall deficits of 10 to 30 percent across Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Yadadri Bhongir districts.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad and its surrounding districts are facing a persistent dry spell, with parched conditions gripping the urban and semi-urban belt.
Notwithstanding the recent heavy rainfall warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), these districts have witnessed clear skies instead of downpours over the past few days.
While weather forecasting is an inherently complex science, the stark contrast between the heavy rain alerts and the dry ground has been undeniable.
A look at the rainfall data shows a widespread negative trend across the capital region. Even though some districts are officially grouped into a ‘normal’ category due to broad IMD classification ranges, the underlying reality is that they have missed out on proper rainfall.
According to TSDPS rainfall data, the cumulative rainfall deficit between June 1 and September 25 for Hyderabad is 24 percent, while for Medchal-Malkajgiri, the rainfall deficit is 30 percent.
Rangareddy district too faces a cumulative rainfall deficit of 10 percent, while Sangareddy has a rainfall deficit of 13 percent. Vikarabad district has a rainfall deficit of 25 percent, while Yadadri Bhongir district has an 18 percent rainfall deficit.

Hyderabad: Cumulative actual rainfall of 458.1 mm against normal of 600.4 mm with 24 percent deficit
Medchal-Malkajgiri: Cumulative actual rainfall of 407.4 mm against normal of 578.3 mm with 30 percent deficit
Rangareddy: Cumulative actual rainfall of 466.6 mm against normal of 521.2 mm with 10 percent deficit
Sangareddy: Cumulative actual rainfall of 562.3 mm against normal of 645 mm with 13 percent deficit
Vikarabad: Cumulative actual rainfall of 474.4 mm against normal of 628.6 mm with 25 percent deficit
Yadadri Bhongir: Cumulative actual rainfall of 414.4 mm against normal of 506.9 mm with 18 percent deficit
