A reserve inspector of the Telangana Special Police battalion at Yapalguda in Adilabad was booked for attempted murder after allegedly ramming a jeep into a reserve sub-inspector who had reportedly exposed irregularities and corruption within the battalion.

Adilabad: A Reserve Inspector from the second battalion of Telangana State Special Battalion (TSSP)-Yapalguda in Adilabad Rural mandal was booked on charges of attempting to murder a Reserve Sub-Inspector (RSI) on Friday.
Police said that an attempt to murder case was registered against Naresh based on a complaint received from RSI Rasam Rakesh, who works with the same battalion. An investigation has been taken up.
On Thursday, Rakesh sustained injuries after a jeep driven by Naresh rammed into him when he was on his way home on a two-wheeler near the battalion. Differences cropped up between Rakesh and Naresh after Rakesh exposed wrongdoings and irregularities in the battalion. Naresh reportedly nursed a grudge against Rakesh and rammed into his two-wheeler with the jeep with the intention of killing him.
Rakesh was immediately shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and was undergoing treatment. The incident created a flutter in the town. It is learned that some officials were committing irregularities in transfers, allocation of duties, permissions, construction works, fuel consumption, purchase of medicines and welfare activities. The officials were reportedly demanding bribes to perform their duties.
Rakesh and some other staffers are alleged to have lodged complaints with higher authorities, seeking a probe into the irregularities and growing corruption among officials of the battalion. An inquiry is already under way into the wrongdoings and graft.
