Residents have been advised to remain cautious, while schools in Nalgonda district were closed as a precaution amid incessant rainfall caused by a low-pressure system.

Nalgonda: With heavy flood waters flowing into the River Musi from upstream areas, officials on Thursday issued an emergency alert for the catchment areas in the erstwhile district.
In view of the possibility of the reservoir gates being opened, officials advised residents in the Musi catchment areas of Suryapet and Nalgonda districts to remain alert. They also warned people against visiting areas surrounding the river under any circumstances.
Officials urged the public to take necessary safety precautions and follow the guidelines and warnings issued by the Revenue and Irrigation departments.
Holiday declared for schools
Meanwhile, in view of the incessant rains caused by a low-pressure system and prioritising student safety, the District Collector declared a holiday on Thursday for all government and private schools in the district.
The Collector advised students and the general public to avoid venturing outdoors unless absolutely necessary and follow the instructions of the local administration. He also urged the public to remain vigilant amid the heavy rainfall.
