Hyderabad: BRS leader A Rakesh Reddy on Thursday accused the Congress government of pushing government employees to the brink of agitation by failing to address their just demands. Instead, he said the government was allegedly threatening employee associations against protesting for their rights.
He stated that employees staged dharnas before district collectorates, while the government held talks with employee associations to bargain.
Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, Rakesh Reddy said six DAs were pending in Telangana and the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) had remained pending for nearly 1,100 days. He alleged that the Congress government humiliated employees by promising two DAs as a Dasara gift instead of clearing all pending DAs.
He pointed out that the previous BRS government spent 38 per cent of the State expenditure on employee salaries, while the Congress government was spending only 28 per cent.
The BRS leader criticised the government for forming committees instead of implementing its promise to scrap the Pay Revision Commission (CPS) and restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). He also alleged that the Employee Health Scheme was not being implemented and retired employees were being neglected.
