Telangana mountaineer Bhukya Yashwanth has summited Mount Saramati, Nagaland’s highest peak, completing the Seven Sisters leg of his Har Shikhar Par Tiranga mission. He aims to climb and document the highest points of all 28 Indian states while inspiring youth.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad mountaineer Bhukya Yashwanth from Bhukya Thanda, Mahabubabad district, Telangana, has successfully completed his “Har Shikhar Par Tiranga – Seven Sisters Expedition” after summiting Mount Saramati, the highest peak of Nagaland, on the morning of 20 September 2026.
The successful summit marks an important milestone in Yashwanth’s continuing journey to climb and document the highest points of all 28 Indian states under his Har Shikhar Par Tiranga mission.
The Nagaland expedition began from Shillong, Meghalaya, and the team travelled towards Kiphire district and Thanamir, the gateway to Mount Saramati. The mountain climb was carried out over approximately three days, involving long trekking sections, steep and slippery trails, forest terrain and physically demanding summit approaches. Despite the challenging conditions, the route also offered spectacular views of Nagaland’s forests, valleys and mountain landscape.
After reaching the mountain region, the expedition team proceeded towards the Saramati Base Camp before beginning the summit push. The final approach presented difficult and slippery sections, requiring careful movement, endurance and teamwork. On the morning of 20 September, Yashwanth successfully reached the summit of Mount Saramati and raised the Indian Tricolour, completing the Nagaland chapter of his Seven Sisters journey.
Yashwanth expressed his sincere gratitude to Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles, for his encouragement, guidance and continued support towards his mountaineering journey.
Coming from Bhukya Thanda in Telangana, Yashwanth’s mountaineering journey has been shaped by determination, hard work and a strong desire to achieve something meaningful. He believes that challenges can be overcome through courage, discipline, perseverance and self-belief.
Through his journey, Yashwanth aims to encourage young people, especially those from rural and tribal communities, to believe in themselves and explore opportunities through sports and adventure.
“My journey is not only about reaching summits. It is about showing young people that determination, courage and hard work can take us beyond our limitations. Every mountain has taught me something new, and every expedition has strengthened my belief that no goal is too high when we are willing to work for it,” said Yashwanth.
Har Shikhar Par Tiranga
The Har Shikhar Par Tiranga mission is Yashwanth’s effort to climb and document the highest points of all 28 Indian states, carrying the Tricolour to each summit and showcasing India’s diverse mountains, landscapes, cultures and communities.
Before Nagaland, Yashwanth had successfully completed the highest points of several states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Goa.
Among his recent state-peak achievements are Guru Shikhar in Rajasthan, Arma Konda in Andhra Pradesh, Deomali in Odisha and Sonsogor in Goa. His wider mountaineering journey also includes expeditions to major peaks such as Mount Gorichen in Arunachal Pradesh, Mount Reo Purgyil in Himachal Pradesh, Kang Yatse II in Ladakh, Mount Elbrus in Russia and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
With the successful summit of Mount Saramati, Yashwanth has now added Nagaland to his growing list of completed state high points and has successfully concluded his Seven Sisters Expedition.
For Yashwanth, the journey is about more than mountains. It is an effort to use adventure, sports and the spirit of the Tricolour to inspire the next generation to dream bigger, work harder and contribute positively to the nation.
