Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) on Tuesday introduced four-bin waste segregation across its jurisdiction and launched the ‘Floral Waste to Organic Products’ initiative.
MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy urged residents to segregate household waste into four bins before handing it over, saying source segregation would enable more effective scientific waste management.
He directed the Swachh Bharat Mission (SWM) team to conduct widespread awareness activities in line with Supreme Court directions and Swachh Bharat Mission-2026 guidelines.
“Under the floral waste initiative, residents will be encouraged to collect flowers separately instead of mixing them with other garbage, allowing the waste to be scientifically processed into useful organic products,” Reddy said.
The Commissioner also unveiled a mascot designed to explain waste segregation to children, young people and other sections of society.
He also flagged off three campaign vehicles fitted with LED screens. During the ongoing Ganesh idol immersion, the vehicles will visit major immersion points to raise awareness about four-bin segregation, floral waste handling, cleanliness and environmental protection.
