Hyderabad: A dazzling 24-Karat gold-coated Lord Ganesh idol at Feelkhana in a bustling Begum Bazaar has unveiled a breathtaking marvel this festive season.
The deity is intricately embellished with over 3,83,000 American diamonds, which catch the light from every angle, creating a shimmering aura that fills the entire pandal.
Adhar Agarwal, proprietor of Leechee Pearls and Jewels at Feelkhana, told ‘Telangana Today’ that, crafted with precision, the idol is the work of eight master goldsmiths from Kolkata, each with more than 30 years of experience in luxury gold and diamond jewellery design.
These artisans spent nearly eight months crafting the Ganesh idol, and beneath the heavy gold plating is a solid brass core fused with a sacred five-metal alloy, Panchadhatu, he said.
Agarwal shared that the idol’s inspiration blends the iconic forms of Mumbai’s famous Lalbaugcha Raja and Tirumala’s Tirupati Balaji. “This marks our third consecutive year hosting the gold-coated Ganesh festival and meticulously crafting a 3-foot-tall idol,” he said.
At the end of the festivities, the idol would be taken to Hussain Sagar Lake in a symbolic farewell procession honouring the sacred rituals, but an eco-friendly clay Ganesha idol would instead be immersed, Agarwal said.
Devotees can visit this unique Ganesh idol at a pandal arranged outside the Pearls and Jewels shop, between 11 am and 3 am during ongoing festivities.
To ensure safety of the idol, maximum-security protocols have been adopted. The entire venue operates under an impenetrable, 24/7 blanket of high-definition CCTV surveillance, monitoring every angle of the magnificent idol in real time, Agarwal added.
