Light to moderate rains lashed Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts on Thursday, bringing relief to farmers. The districts recorded rainfall deficits of 6 per cent and 7 per cent, respectively, as paddy, cotton and maize crops showed signs of stress

Mancherial/Asifabad: Both Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts received light to moderate rains on Thursday, delighting farmers.

Mancherial district recorded average rainfall of 26 mm, with Bheemini mandal recording the highest rainfall of 48 mm. The district received 795 mm of actual rainfall against the normal 845 mm from June 1 to September 12, reflecting a deficit of 6 per cent.


Kumram Bheem Asifabad district recorded average rainfall of 25.7 mm, while Asifabad mandal received the highest rainfall of 50.5 mm. The district received 878 mm of actual rainfall against the normal 943 mm, reflecting a deficit of 7 per cent.

Paddy, cotton and maize farmers expressed happiness over the rains. They said the rains had breathed life into crops that were on the verge of withering.
