Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla urges people to opt for clay Ganesha idols

Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday appealed to people to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with devotion while giving equal importance to environmental protection, and urged them to opt for eco-friendly clay Ganesha idols to help prevent water pollution.

Extending his greetings to the people on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the Governor emphasised the need for environmentally responsible celebrations during the festival. As part of an initiative to promote eco-friendly celebrations, he, along with his wife Janaki Shukla, distributed eco-friendly clay Ganesha idols to officials and employees of Lok Bhavan and members of the media here.

The Governor stressed the need to protect the environment throughout the festival celebrations and said the use of clay idols would help minimise pollution of water bodies during immersion after the festival. Clay idols, being made of natural and eco-friendly material, dissolve naturally in water and can help reduce the adverse impact of idol immersion on water bodies, he said.
