Hyderabad: A woman student walked away with five gold medals in Chemistry during the Osmania University (OU) convocation held here on Tuesday. Begumpeta Nikhitha secured five gold medals, instituted in the names of different distinguished persons, for standing first in MSc Chemistry and MSc Organic Chemistry.
A total of 71 gold medals and 640 PhDs were awarded in recognition of academic excellence and research achievement of students.
Addressing the graduating scholars, Bharat Biotech International Limited Executive Chairman, Dr Krishna M Yella, urged the youth to look beyond academic qualifications and become innovators, entrepreneurs and creators of solutions that address the challenges facing society and the nation.
Governor and OU Chancellor Shiv Pratap Shukla called upon the young graduates to become job providers rather than merely job seekers. He stressed the importance of entrepreneurship, self-reliance and collective effort in strengthening the nation and also called for a concerted societal effort to make India free from drug abuse, particularly protecting the younger generation from its destructive consequences.
OU Vice Chancellor Prof Kumar Molugaram emphasised the University’s achievements are the result of the collective contribution of its faculty, researchers, students and staff.
Meanwhile, Osmania University College of Commerce and Business Management student Rayapuraju Shreya was awarded the ‘Prof J Satyanarayana Memorial Gold Medal’ for securing the highest marks in the ‘Managerial Economics and Business Environment’ paper among Osmania University campus and constituency colleges for 2025. The gold medal was presented by Governor Pratap Shukla at the 85th convocation held on Tuesday.
