Residents of Jayadarshini Residency in Gachibowli have been dealing with drainage water and a severe stench for two weeks. They say debris from a demolished building blocked a nearby nala, causing water to enter the complex and inundate its cellar.

Hyderabad: Flat owners of Jayadarshini Residency at Anjaiah Nagar in Gachibowli have complained that their cellar premises have been inundated with drainage water, causing an unbearable stench for the past two weeks.
The complex is next to an illegal seven-storey building that collapsed on Aug 22, killing two workers and damaging several flats in Jayadarshini Residency. The property owner had constructed the building over a drainage nala, causing the collapse.
Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) subsequently demolished the collapsed structure in a joint operation.
However, tonnes of debris left at the site completely blocked a drainage nala, causing water to enter Jayadarshini Residency and stagnate, residents said.
D Ramakrishna, joint secretary of Jayadarshini Residency Flat Owners Welfare Association, said residents had been unable to stay in the complex for two weeks because drainage water had inundated the cellar, causing a severe stench. Draining the water was the only option, he added.
He said the association had complained to CMC Commissioner G Srijana and other officials, but the leakage remained unattended.
Residents urged CMC to undertake immediate repairs and regular maintenance to prevent a recurrence. CMC sources said the drainage leak could not be stopped unless the debris was cleared.
