An auto-rickshaw driver was murdered in Mailardevpally on Thursday, marking the second killing in the area within 24 hours. Police suspect a possible link between the two murders and have formed special teams to investigate.

Hyderabad: An auto-rickshaw driver was brutally murdered in the Mailardevpally police station limits on Thursday, triggering tension in the area.
The victim, identified as Abdul Raoof, a resident of Jahangirabad, was found lying in a pool of blood in front of Orchid School near Deccan Palace. The incident came to light when locals noticed the body and alerted the police.
The assailants stabbed the man using a knife leading to his death on the spot.
Police reached the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem examination. The motive behind the murder and the identity of the assailants are yet to be ascertained.
The incident assumes significance as it is the second murder reported in the area within 24 hours. In the early hours of Wednesday, a man identified as Sohail, against whom a rowdy sheet is maintained, was brutally murdered in the same area.
DCP (Rajendranagar) S. Sreenivas said a special team had been formed to identify and apprehend the suspects. Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and investigating whether there is any connection between the two murders.
