Iran’s Health Minister Mohammad-Reza Zafarghandi says 18 people were killed in the US strikes that hit several provinces on Tuesday.
In a short statement on Wednesday, Zafarghandi said 18 people were killed and 108 others injured in the attacks against various Iranian provinces.
Shrapnel from one of the strikes hit a residential building hosting a wedding reception in the city of Kouhestak in Sirik County, Hormozgan Province.
Elsewhere in Sirik County, the US military attacked a fishing pier and a port authority tower, according to Iranian officials.
An American strike also targeted a fishmeal factory on Qeshm Island in Hormozgan, Iranian reports said.
Tuesday’s strike on the wedding ceremony recalled the US military’s fatal attack on Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab, Hormozgan, where US Tomahawk missiles struck on February 28, killing more than 160 schoolchildren.
The Sirik attack has drawn condemnation from Iranian officials, with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf likening the United States to “Satan.”
Qalibaf said in a post on X on Wednesday, “If a power acts like Satan, picks targets like Satan, and kills like Satan, it’s Satan.”
The Iranian Armed Forces retaliated by striking US bases in several regional countries, warning that the United States will face severe consequences for its latest acts of aggression.
