Five persons were killed and around 20 injured when a private travel bus from Hyderabad to Eluru rammed into a container truck near Dwarakunta in Suryapet district. Two injured passengers are critical, while police are investigating the accident.

Hyderabad: Atleast five persons were killed and 20 injured when a private travel bus carrying passengers from Hyderabad to Eluru in Andhra Pradesh met with a horrific accident near Dwarakunta on the outskirts of Kodad mandal in Suryapet district on Wednesday morning.
As per information available, the bus rammed into a container truck from behind, leaving five passengers dead and around 20 others seriously injured. Two of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.
Rescue teams and police rushed to the spot and worked to extricate passengers trapped inside the mangled bus.
The accident may have occurred when the bus driver attempted to overtake the container. Reports also suggest that the driver may have been drowsy. Iron rods reportedly protruding from the container pierced through the right side of the bus, causing severe injuries to passengers seated on that side.
The injured were shifted to the Kodad Government Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
The Police have registered a case and are investigating the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
The accident triggered panic at the accident spot, with trapped passengers reportedly crying for help as rescue operations continued.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed shock and grief over the accident and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased. He directed Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to ensure that all injured passengers receive the best possible medical treatment.
