Sangareddy: The story of a young nurse accused of killing her parents over their opposition to her love affair ended tragically after she reportedly died by suicide in a private hostel at Shanthi Nagar on Sunday night.

Police suspect that Nakkala Surekha, in her early 20s, administered herself an overdose of an anaesthetic injection—the same substance she was accused of using to kill her parents earlier this year. Her hostel roommates found her dead in her room and alerted the police.

A native of Yacharam village in Bantwaram mandal of Vikarabad district, Surekha had completed her BSc in Nursing and was employed at a private hospital in Sangareddy.

According to the investigation, Surekha had fallen in love with a young man she befriended on social media. Her parents, Dasarath and Lakshmi, strongly opposed the relationship and her plans to marry him. In January, she was arrested for allegedly killing them by administering a lethal overdose of anaesthetic injections.

She was released on bail recently and had been staying in the private hostel in Sangareddy. Police believe she was depressed about her future and took the extreme step by injecting herself with the same medicine.

Sangareddy police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
