The media center of Iran’s parliament (Majlis) has strongly condemned US President Donald Trump for fabricating remarks by Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, slamming him for using misinformation to conceal military defeat and mislead global public opinion.
In a statement issued Monday, the media center criticized Trump’s “dirty media games” and his publication of false information about Qalibaf’s recent remarks.
Iranian officials released the full, unedited video of Qalibaf’s speech to Iranian and Iraqi economic activists during his recent visit to Iraq, which demonstrates the difference between his actual comments and Trump’s distorted portrayal of them.
Qalibaf’s speech focused on strengthening economic cooperation between Iran and Iraq to counter US sanctions. He said Iran and Iraq had defeated the Americans in the military war through their unity, while warning that Washington had now shifted toward “cognitive and economic warfare.” He urged economic activists to act as “commanders” in the economic struggle and preserve national dignity by overcoming sanctions.
Qalibaf also stressed that security is a prerequisite for economic development and said that after winning the military war waged against the Islamic Republic, economic forces must prevent the enemy from winning the economic war.
He proposed measures including using national currencies in bilateral trade, empowering the private sector, improving capital circulation, strengthening ties with like-minded countries, using domestic resources and maritime border points, and adopting modern trade mechanisms.
At the same time, Qalibaf acknowledged Iran’s economic challenges, warning that military strength alone cannot ensure survival if people face hardship and economic activity stagnates. The parliament media center said these remarks were an acknowledgment of economic realities and a call for development, not an admission of military defeat.

Iranian Parliament Speaker emphasized in a gathering of Iranian and Iraqi economic activists that the two countries should have a plan to win the economic war and defeat the sanctions through helping each other.
He also stressed that the Americans were defeated in the military war with the power of Iran and Iraq and that is why they have resorted to cognitive and economic warfare. He clarified that overcoming the sanctions has a solution and a way out, and economic activists are the commanders of this economic war because just as we must maintain our honor and dignity against the enemy at any cost, you economic commanders must also maintain the honor and dignity of the people by solving economic problems and overcoming sanctions.
He further noted that the duty of governments is also to remove obstacles and facilitate the work of economic commanders. Dr. Qalibaf also added that security is more important than the economy because security is cornerstone of economy.
He said that we won the war and now it is the turn of economic commanders of the two countries to prevent the enemy from winning the economic war by overcoming sanctions and helping each other, and to this end a clear roadmap should be prepared.
Using national currencies for trade, trusting the private sector and effective financial turnover with attention to their activities and motivation, strengthening bilateral relations between two countries based on common historical and civilizational issues, exchanging and interacting with aligned countries, paying attention to domestic resources, planning for the proper use of land and sea border points, using modern commercial tools and moving away from traditional methods, etc. were among the points raised by Dr. Qalibaf to economic activists in the meeting.
He also reminded the economic activists that no matter how powerful militarily we are, if people are hungry and we do not have financial turnover, economic growth and national production, we will not survive.
He generally emphasizes the necessity of economic development alongside military power, and at the same time encourages economic activists in both countries in Iran and Iraq for investment and development. What he says is clearly different from directly admitting that “now we are hungry, so we cannot survive.”
Lying, distorting reality, and resorting to fake news are among the methods that enemy particularly the delusional US President use to gain media achievements.

The countries of the region, which were supposed to be provided with security by US military bases, are now struggling to end the war and resort to regional agreements to maintain their security. They say to their citizens that the US bases not only have not secured their interests but also have endangered their economy and brought insecurity for them.
