Karnataka: The neighbours were taken aback to see bundles of currency and sacks of coins in a beggar’s hut here after she died on Sunday. Noorunnisa, aged around 70 years, was living alone in a shanty in Guttalu layout in Mandya. She was surviving on alms given by people of the town.

She died on Sunday, and her two brothers, who live in Bengaluru, went to perform her last rites.
After the ritual was over, her brothers went to her house along with the neighbours and checked her belongings. They found bundles of Rs 10 and Rs 20 in plastic covers and coins in sacks.
The money was later shared equally among the brothers.
