Adilabad: Nearly 3,500 candidates appeared for an eligibility test conducted by the district police unit to provide free coaching to aspirants for police jobs.
In a statement here on Sunday, SP Akhil Mahajan said that 3,446 candidates attended the eligibility test held as part of a selection process to extend the coaching to 300 aspirants for free. The test conducted at Sri Nalanda College and Chavara High School in the town evoked an overwhelming response from candidates from several parts of the district. He added that priority would be given to tribal youngsters from the region.
Akhil, who inspected the venues, instructed officials to take steps to avoid inconvenience to the candidates. He said that 200 policemen were deployed and elaborate arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the test. He informed that the initiative was aimed at providing better opportunities to jobseekers. He advised the aspirants to utilise the opportunity. He thanked those who extended their support to the department in successfully conducting the test.
The district police unit came forward to offer the coaching for the convenience of the aspirants, with the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board inviting applications to recruit 7,112 police constable and equivalent posts, including firefighter and warder roles, recently.
Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy, Special Branch DSP M Venkata Narasaiah and staffers of the department were present.
