Israel’s settlement expansion plot cannot hide its strategic defeats: IRGC Quds Force chief

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force chief, Brigadier General Esmail Qa’ani, says Israel’s settlement expansion and intensified crimes in the occupied West Bank and Gaza are attempts to escape its deep internal crisis.

“The Palestinian cause, from the river to the sea, is today more alive, dynamic and attainable than ever before,” General Qa’ani said on Sunday.

He maintained that Israel’s actions cannot hide its strategic and battlefield defeats since October 7, 2023, when it started the genocidal war on Gaza, but instead show the regime’s military, security, political, and social paralysis.

“The Palestine cause will continue, relying on divine promise and popular resistance, until the complete victory of truth over falsehood, and no conspiracy or crime will be able to extinguish this burning flame” he added.

Qa’ani concluded by warning that the Resistance Front is closely monitoring developments and would respond to any “adventure” by the enemies at the appropriate time.

The comments come as Israel advances the illegal E1 settlement scheme in the occupied West Bank, east of occupied East al-Quds.

On August 21, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the E1 scheme posed an “existential threat” to the establishment of a contiguous Palestinian state.

The UN Palestinian Rights Committee Bureau has demanded an immediate halt to the project and all illegal settlement activity across the occupied territories.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ), in its July 19, 2024 advisory opinion, found Israel’s continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory unlawful and said its settlement policies violate international law.
