The video was shared on Instagram by Soundarya Patil, who also opened up about the story behind the interaction.
Patil was taking a tea break and painting her own nails when the janitor approached and watched her with curiosity. She then offered to paint her nails too, an offer that the woman happily accepted.
The woman had a specific request, she wanted red nail polish. However, Patil did not have that colour with her at the time and promised to bring it on another day so they could finish the little makeover.
The interaction held a deeper meaning for Patil. She revealed that the janitor regularly checks whether she has eaten lunch, despite the two women not speaking the same language. The woman also makes an effort to communicate in Hindi so that Patil can understand her.
These everyday gestures made Patil reflect on the different ways people show affection and concern for one another, especially when someone is living away from home.
A friend of Patil’s secretly recorded the nail-painting moment, capturing the interaction without interrupting it. The video later drew warm reactions from viewers, with one person writing, “Just two girls being there for each other. So beautiful.”
