Hyderabad police arrested two men from Andhra Pradesh for smuggling 14.2 kg of hashish oil worth Rs 1.75 crore. The arrests were made during vehicle checks at Gowrelly X Road, and officials are now tracing the absconding supplier from Odisha.
Hyderabad: The LB Nagar SOT and Nagole police busted an interstate hashish oil transportation racket and arrested two persons for smuggling 14.2 kg of the contraband, valued at around Rs 1.75 crore on Friday.
The arrests were made during vehicle checks at Gowrelly X Road, police intercepted a motorcycle and nabbed T Nagaraju and N Narayana alias Kiran, both from Alluri Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly disclosed that T Gopal, a resident of Singavaram village in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, had handed over two bags containing about 7 kg of hashish oil each for delivery in Hyderabad.
He allegedly promised to pay Rs 1 lakh to each of the arrested persons for transporting the drug. The duo reportedly travelled through village roads to evade police checks.
Police said the delivery details were to be provided after their arrival in Hyderabad.
Officials said an investigation is underway to trace Gopal, who is absconding, and identify the consumer and wider supply network.
Nagaraju and Narayana were earlier involved in drug cases. Nagole police are investigating.
