A 37-year-old government primary school teacher was found dead in a stream at Mategaon village in Nirmal district on Saturday. Police suspect he may have taken the extreme step due to depression and alcohol addiction.

Nirmal: A government teacher was found dead in a stream at Mategaon village in Bhainsa mandal on Saturday. The body of the teacher was retrieved from the stream.
Police said that Macharla Mahesh, 37, a primary school teacher from Halda village, might have either ended his life by plunging into the stream or met a watery grave.
He was addicted to liquor and was depressed about his life. He left home stating he would discharge his duties, but appeared to have resorted to the drastic step on Friday. His body was traced in the stream.
Based on a complaint received from family members of the teacher, a case has been registered. An investigation is underway.
