A Telangana State Special Police constable, allegedly drunk and creating a nuisance at a bar in Warangal, was thrashed by locals and an on-duty policeman after he obstructed police from performing official duty.
Hyderabad: A constable who created a nuisance in a drunken condition in Warangal district was thrashed by local residents and a policeman after the former obstructed police from discharging official duty.
The incident happened on August 19 when the constable of Telangana State Special Police (TSSP), created a nuisance in a drunken condition at a bar, a police official said on Saturday.
The bar staff called the police helpline and complained about his behaviour, following which a police constable reached the spot and requested the TSSP constable to wear his shirt and leave the place.
However, he refused and created more nuisance, after which the constable allegedly slapped him and following which he too slapped the on-duty constable, the official said.
The on-duty constable then hit him with a stick even as some local residents also joined in and thrashed the TSSP constable. A video of the incident went viral on social media.
Later, a case was registered at A J Mills Colony police station against the TSSP constable on charges of obstructing police personnel from discharging official duty and assaulting on-duty policeman. A notice was issued to the accused, police added.
